The Council of the Anglo-Bolivian Society is concerned at the escalation of unrest and violence that has followed the Sunday 20 October elections. We would urge all stakeholders to respect the United Nations’ core value of democracy based on the freely-expressed will of people and closely linked to the rule of law, denounce the use of violence in any capacity and, above all, maintain calm and unity over division in this delicate situation.
Modern Bolivia upholds the principles of accountability and cooperation. We urge the electoral authorities to defend the will of Bolivian citizens in strict adherence with the constitution and its complimentary laws in an agile and transparent manner.
