The Anglo-Bolivian Society is proud to announce that its Chairman, Dr Winston Moore, was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charges III in June 2025, with the honour formally presented during an investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle on 28 October, with Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, recognising Dr Moore’s distinguished service to the Bolivian community in the United Kingdom and his longstanding contributions to strengthening relations between the UK and Bolivia.
During the ceremony, Princess Anne recalled her 1979 visit to Bolivia, including her time in Potosí, describing it as a memorable and unique experience given how rare official British visits to the region have been. In their exchange, Dr Moore noted his continued interest in supporting Indigenous communities in Bolivia—an area of shared concern, he remarked, with His Majesty King Charles.
Recognising a Decade of Leadership and Commitment
Dr Moore, who holds both Bolivian and British nationality, has chaired the Anglo-Bolivian Society for over a decade. Under his leadership, the organisation has significantly expanded its cultural, academic, humanitarian and commercial initiatives and support for charitable causes. Among his major contributions:
- Coordinating the Society’s humanitarian response during the Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring medical supplies reached several regions of Bolivia.
- Organising the Society’s 30th-anniversary commemoration in the UK Parliament in 2022, a landmark event honouring the contributions of Bolivian and British citizens to bilateral understanding.
- Promoting enduring links between academic institutions, businesses and civil society organisations across both nations.
These efforts reflect the mission of the Society: to foster meaningful connections and deepen mutual understanding between Bolivia and the United Kingdom.
A Milestone for the UK–Bolivia Community
In accepting the distinction, Dr Moore expressed appreciation on behalf of all who have contributed to reinforcing the historical and cultural bonds between the two countries.
He stated:
“I receive this recognition with deep gratitude, in representation of all who have worked to strengthen the lasting ties between the United Kingdom and Bolivia. This honour reflects a shared journey grounded in mutual respect, cultural understanding and a commitment to collaboration.”
Looking Forward
The Anglo-Bolivian Society sees this prestigious recognition as both an endorsement of past work and an impetus for future initiatives. Dr Moore’s investiture highlights the relevance of sustained engagement and the importance of nurturing constructive dialogue between both nations.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Dr Moore MBE and look forward to continuing our work under his leadership to further enrich the UK–Bolivia relationship.
